[The King's Avatar] Mr. Hyde’s Confession

After retiring, Zhang Xinjie took the adult college entrance exam, got into H University, a renowned law school in China, and completed a combined master's and doctoral program. Now in his early thirties, he teaches criminal law at H University's School of Criminal Justice.

He only needs to publish one more paper to be promoted to associate professor. But then he finds himself in a rather serious predicament:

He's become a suspect in a criminal case and has been summoned to the police station for questioning.

But Zhang Xinjie's years of studying criminal law are no joke. With insufficient evidence, the police can't do much to him for now.

Just as the investigation is becoming difficult, the person responsible comes forward to confess.

"Zhang Xinjie, so you really did it!" The police officer who had questioned him earlier slams the table, ready to convict and sentence him on the spot.

"Hey, what's with you? How can you be a homicide detective if you can't even tell who's who?" The man in front of him has the exact same face as Zhang Xinjie, but his clothes, hairstyle, and manner of speaking make him seem like an entirely different person.

"That's right. I pushed him down." He speaks casually, then reaches up and tugs off the tie around his neck in disgust. "But listen carefully. My name is Shi Bu Zhuan."

"Shi Bu Zhuan, as in 'the river flows on, but the stones stand unmoved.'"

Another standalone short story, with a pretty wild premise (heh). Complete in one installment.

Theme: Don't cross the line.
