Fu Yingzhu transmigrated into a household-intrigue novel and became an unloved legitimate daughter of a marquis's household.

Her stepmother smiled while hiding a knife, killing her with kindness. Her beautiful, scheming younger sister loved to compare herself to others. Her father didn't love her, and her grandfather didn't care for her. Surrounded by wolves and tigers, Fu Yingzhu might as well have had the words "cannon fodder" carved into her forehead.

Fu Yingzhu reviewed the plot she'd been handed. After failing time and again to win her family's favor over her younger sister, she'd earn her father's hatred and ultimately be married off to a poor scholar on a whim. She'd then exit the household-intrigue stage with a cool, quiet farewell. Her younger sister, meanwhile, would get her wish, marry the man of her dreams, and become the Princess of Chen.

But in the book's epilogue, the poor scholar from a humble family passed the imperial examinations, rose to prominence, and became a powerful minister. The Prince of Chen, on the other hand, failed in his bid for the throne and was demoted to commoner, ending up with nothing.

After thinking it over, Fu Yingzhu realized that she seemed to have already won without doing a thing.

As for winning her family's favor? Her father's favoritism? Her stepmother's fake kindness?

Let whoever cares about those things worry about them. She just wanted to eat well, live comfortably, and make it to the day the poor scholar sat for the imperial examinations.
