After the Substitute Sufferer Returned from His Tribulation

Synopsis captured on 2021.11

Seven hundred years ago, Xiao Shuxing was a mortal brought back by Fu Ge, the demon clan's Third Prince.

Xiao Shuxing knew nothing of profound cultivation arts. He only knew that among mortals, when two people fell in love, they bowed to Heaven and Earth and tied their hair together as husband and wife.

He naively waited for Fu Ge to marry him as promised, never understanding why everyone thought him lowborn and malicious, bullying, humiliating, and mocking him for reaching above his station.

Through it all, Fu Ge stood by with folded arms, unmoved. Later, he even took Xiao Shuxing's heart with his own hands to cure someone else.

Barely kept alive by demonic power, Xiao Shuxing's heart turned to ashes. He leaped through the barrier around the demon clan's forbidden grounds, trying to return to the mortal realm.

But he couldn't make it back. The Venerable Immortal Zhixing, who had slept for many years in the heavens, opened his eyes.

Xiao Shuxing had never been mortal.

He was a fragment of the Venerable Immortal Zhixing's divine soul, sent down to the mortal world to undergo a trial.

Now that his soul had returned to its rightful place, all his past experiences were no more than fleeting illusions, and he forgot them all.

Seven hundred years later, the Heavenly Lord holds a grand banquet for the immortals and invites Fu Ge, who has since taken the throne as Demon King.

He sees with his own eyes the person who should have been reduced to ashes sitting beside the Heavenly Lord, chatting and laughing happily. He fears it is still an illusion conjured by his own obsession.

But when Fu Ge hurriedly catches up to him and begs him not to leave, the man raises an eyebrow, confusion filling his beautiful eyes. "Have we... met?"
