The Miao Boy Has Stolen the Ninth Princess Bride Again

[The print edition has been retitled Embracing the Moon, published by Dayu Press. The character cards are bonus illustrations from the previous edition. They’re so, so, so cute that I couldn’t resist sharing them!! See @Cishaxixuegui for details.] In early September, the sinister and unpredictable Miaojiang sent a marriage proposal to Daqing. Emperor Qingxiu couldn’t bear to send his little princess far away, so he sent the only unfavored princess among Daqing’s nine princesses to Miaojiang instead. On the night she reached the border, the ninth princess, who had fled her wedding, met a mysterious young man from Miaojiang. On a whim, he dragged her back to the Central Plains to stir up trouble. They raided a mountain stronghold that trafficked people, stole the horse bandits’ loot, blew up river bandit ships, burned down the Martial Alliance Leader’s backyard, and took revenge on a young prince by stuffing him into a sack. The ninth princess thought the young man only knew how to use poison bugs. Until one day, they fell into a trap set by the court, and the young man’s poison bugs were all wiped out. The ninth princess, sent beyond the encirclement by the young man, went to great lengths to return and save him. But all she saw beneath the moonlight was the silver ornamentation on his clothes glittering as corpses lay scattered at his feet. The instant the young man glanced up at her nonchalantly, he looked like a ghost come to claim her life. The ninth princess turned and ran. She ran straight into his arms, grabbed his ear, and scolded him furiously. You scared me to death! Before you read: 1. A Miaojiang boy who does whatever he likes, including abducting a princess sent away for a political marriage to serve as his tour guide, paired with an optimistic, clever ninth princess who always gets revenge. 2. Lighthearted, plain-language writing. Don’t overthink the historical details. The setting features three regions and four fictional kingdoms. See the author’s note in Chapter One for content warnings. 3. I suddenly really wanted to read a story about a Miaojiang boy abducting a Central Plains princess, but I couldn’t find anything similar, so I wrote it myself. Theme: If you have a conviction, keep moving forward and make your wish come true.
