The Empress Was Once a Jianghu Wanderer

A fragile, work-worn emperor who stutters despite being maxed out at government affairs x A bold, carefree empress who has seen it all in the martial world and will fight anyone who gives her trouble Li Ye, the current emperor of Great Xi, is a ruler of rare talent, a wise monarch the likes of whom appear only once in a thousand years. His abilities in government are maxed out, and under his rule the realm is peaceful and the people live in contentment. He is taciturn and deeply imposing. Though he is no tyrant, he still terrifies his ministers, who have to write their wills before attending court. When Wang Yanyu entered the palace because of an arranged marriage from childhood, she was completely at ease. She figured she could fake her death and escape in no time. The palace walls could stop her? What a joke. She had been roaming the martial world since she was five. Her reputation as the greatest martial artist under heaven was no exaggeration. On their wedding day. Wang Yanyu flung up her veil. “...So you’re taciturn because you stutter? And that imposing air is an act?” Li Ye: “Y-yes.” Wang Yanyu: “And you’re also fragile-hearted?” Li Ye: “Wh-what does fragile-hearted mean?” Wang Yanyu thought for a moment, then pointed at the glass teapot on the table. “What would happen if I pushed it off?” Li Ye: “It w-would break...” After the wedding. Wang Yanyu: “You don’t understand the martial world. I’ll be out and about, so just take care of the household, okay?” Li Ye arranged his memorials. “Mm.” On an incognito visit. Wang Yanyu tugged at Li Ye’s sleeve. “Those so-called miracle doctors and cult leaders saying they want to court me are just kidding, okay? Don’t get mad. You can’t beat them! Don’t do anything rash!” “I am the emperor! The Son of Heaven! I rule the realm! I’ll summon the Imperial Guards!” “Your stutter’s gone?” “N-no, I’m just angry.” Reading Guide: A silly, sweet romance Mutual love, with both pursuing each other Theme: Love means understanding and caring for one another.
