Can We Keep the Usurper Brat?

Mu Qing died of illness in a stormy night, when the political situation was in turmoil.

A month later, his beloved disciple, Prince An, usurped the throne from Mu Qing's imperial cousin.

Until the day he died, Mu Qing couldn't understand how he, born into an upright Hanlin family, with a mother who was the current empress's sister, and raised from childhood on propriety and moral instruction, could have personally taught a little bastard who would usurp the throne. He had even been appointed Crown Prince's study companion from the moment he began his education!

Then he was reborn, back in the year before he ever met the little bastard.

He swore to himself that this time, even if he saw the palace servants bully the little bastard to death, he wouldn't so much as look at him. Never!

Later, Mu Qing expressionlessly pinched the young bastard's cheek.

If he taught him properly this time... maybe he could still save him?

Later still...

Mu Qing stormed out of the imperial palace, one hand on his lower back. Behind him followed the little bastard, all meek obedience and radiant smiles.

Mu Qing: There's no saving him. Let the world burn.
