Can Can, a laid-back fish spirit, was considered the disgrace of her fish-spirit clan for being too competitive. The clan leader tossed her into a novel to reform her.
Can Can was still unconvinced. She resolved to become a model worker, rise to the top of the entertainment industry, and make the lazy fish of her clan look at her in a new light.
That was until she joined a slow-paced reality show called Country Living.
The first day of the live broadcast.
Can Can went up the mountain to pick wild vegetables, caught fish in the river, and made a table full of delicious food to share with the other guests.
Unfortunately, they weren't impressed: What kind of scheming woman is she? Is she trying to ride our coattails or make us look bad to build her own image?
Their fans: She just loves showing off. Who can't cook?
The second day of the live broadcast.
Can Can finished turning over her own plot of land, then grabbed a hoe and went to help the other guests, quietly doing all the work by herself.
The other guests: Trying to make us look bad again? If you finish all the work, what are we supposed to do?
Their fans: There she goes, being competitive again! Is she the only one with hands?
Another group of viewers camped out in her livestream just to scold her: Life is competitive enough already. We watch a slow-paced reality show to relax, and now there's a try-hard here competing your grandma!
After being scolded enough, Can Can finally got it.
Try-hards are hated. She decided to mend her ways and become a proper lazy fish!
Before long, the guests and viewers realized that Can Can had stopped being competitive. Every day, she finished her own work and then lay flat.
While the other guests ate nothing but pickled vegetables with plain rice for every meal,
Can Can had three dishes and a soup, with all the nutrients she needed.
Watching them drool with envy, Can Can enjoyed her food even more.
While the other guests splashed around in the water for ages without even touching a fish scale,
Can Can came back carrying a string of fish. Should she steam them, braise them, grill them, or make fish balls?
Forget it. She'd try them all!
While the other guests worked in the fields under the blazing sun,
Can Can had already finished for the day and gone home. She took the fish balls she'd baked and went to listen to the old folks tell stories under the big tree at the village entrance.
The other guests: Q A Q, boss, we know we were wrong! Give us another chance. We'll treasure it this time!
Their fans: Please, we're already kneeling on keyboards. Help our guys and girls out and give them a bite to eat!
Can Can, the former try-hard: Don't call me. Food tastes better after lying flat, the air is sweeter, and nobody scolds me anymore!
Theme: Know how to balance work and rest.
