Pairing:
The gong who keeps insisting that he needs to maintain his persona, and who pretends to be weak with a clear conscience (Ji Wangzhi);
The shou who can't resist protecting anything weak and vulnerable, and does so without even realizing it (Pu Shuo);
Gong POV!
Ji Wangzhi's job is to maintain a certain amount of order in the worlds his younger brother creates, over and over again.
Gradually, he loses interest in life.
But his successor is taking forever to appear, and Ji Wangzhi has no way to put an end to all this.
Until an outsider appears in one of his younger brother's little worlds.
Faced with something new for the first time, neither brother knows what to do.
They can't casually eliminate a life that isn't under their jurisdiction, so Ji Wangzhi has no choice but to enter the world and observe whether the newcomer poses a threat.
*. The following sections are from the shou's (Pu Shuo's) perspective. The main story is told from the gong's perspective.
School arc
Pu Shuo thinks the best thing he ever did was become friends with the protagonist shou after the protagonist gong provoked him, just to get under the gong's skin.
He even showed the shou, step by step, how to get away from that annoying guy.
Who could have guessed that he'd eventually become the partner of the protagonist shou, who wouldn't even dare fight back when he was bullied?
ABO arc
As a strapping Omega, Pu Shuo is honored to become the personal bodyguard of a young nobleman (an Omega).
But while Pu Shuo is thriving at work, he keeps striking out in love.
Even high-match alpha men look down on him.
Seeing the worry in Ji Wangzhi's eyes, Pu Shuo pushes down all his feelings and reassures him. "I'm fine. The young master hasn't found his destined partner yet. I'll stay by your side until you find someone to protect you."
Cultivation arc
Though they are senior and junior disciples, their relationship has always been lukewarm, and they hardly interact.
In his long cultivation life, the person who left the deepest impression on him was neither the beauty who admired him nor the stern yet loving master, but that gentle, jade-like figure seen from behind.
Pu Shuo: "Senior brother, do you trust me? Jump."
Ji Wangzhi continued to smile calmly, without the slightest doubt about what Pu Shuo had said.
With a soft, light "All right," he leapt off the cliff without hesitation.
