#A fatherly boyfriend who spoils her rotten#

Ye Zhuo, an eunuch in the Directorate of Ceremonial, has recently been given a tricky assignment.

He has to attend to the new empress, a little girl who's still young enough to cry at the drop of a hat.

The little empress has had a hard life. Her birth mother died early, her stepmother despises her, her older sisters bully her, and even her father doesn't care for her.

After entering the palace, she faces the emperor's outright rejection.

Yet she neither cries nor makes a fuss. She seems very well-behaved, though she is always getting sleepy and dozing off.

Then one night, Ye Zhuo discovers the little empress curled up by the head of her bed. Afraid of the dark, she hasn't slept for several nights.

Her eyes and nose are red from crying, and one tiny, chubby hand timidly tugs at the corner of his robe.

Everyone knows that the eunuchs of the Directorate of Ceremonial are ruthless, and that the one in power doesn't even respect the emperor. So when someone sees Ye Zhuo secretly washing the little empress's bloodstained underpants in the middle of the night, they're so shocked they can't close their mouths.

The little empress, sitting on her bed with her feet kicked up as she reads a storybook: "Ye Zhuo!"

Ye Zhuo, crouched at the door washing her underpants, immediately answers: "Here!"

Everyone else: "We must still be asleep!"

Bonus Scene One:

The little empress wakes from a dream in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep.

Ye Zhuo looks up at the dark sky. "Want to take a walk?"

The little empress shows off her round little belly. "I ate too much, so I can't sleep."

Ye Zhuo: "..."

Bonus Scene Two:

Ye Zhuo returns after taking care of some business outside and sees that the residence is so crowded with stuff he can't even set foot inside.

Ye Zhuo: "What's going on?"

The steward has already picked out a suitable place to be buried.

Just then...

Huiyun proudly raises her little hand. "I bought it!"

The displeasure in someone's eyes instantly gives way to indulgence.

The steward: How can he have such a double standard...
