I Like You Just a Little

The week before winter break was the school anniversary. Each class had to prepare a stage play to perform in the auditorium on the day of the celebration. The first-place prize was a weeklong trip abroad for the entire class.

Senior Class 1 decided to assign the roles and jobs in the play by lottery, in keeping with the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency.

Tong Yingshui drew the role of Snow White's wicked stepmother.

Duan Yao drew the role of the magic mirror, which required him to wear a cheap wig.

During rehearsal...

Tong Yingshui widened her eyes until they looked like brass bells and said with what she thought was her fiercest expression, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

Duan Yao answered without hesitation, his gaze sincere. "You."

Tong Yingshui, convinced she'd suffered enough in life, left the bustling city of Mucheng and returned to Huaiyu Town. By then, she was mildly depressed.

On her very first day home, her parents arranged a blind date for her. Her date was a former high school classmate. In her memories, Duan Yao had many titles: the cocky boy, heir to the Huaiyu orchards, the guy who might make your heart flutter with one look, Jingzhong High's number one heartthrob...

So many years had passed. The boy before her had long since shed his youthful restlessness. His brows now held a steadiness and indifference she'd never seen before.

Tong Yingshui: "My heart is dead."

Duan Yao: "Give it to me. I'll bring your heart back to life."

He'd already missed his chance once. This time, even if the sky fell, he wouldn't let her go again.
