Heartbeat Signal

The Ex-Wife-Chasing Crematorium / From Campus to the City

The first time Shen Jia skipped class, she caught a girl confessing to Chi Wang. The boy lazily pointed at her. "See that? That's who I have a crush on."

Shen Jia froze on top of the high wall, unable to climb up or down.

The second time she skipped class, Chi Wang was waiting beneath the wall, looking relaxed. "Why are you being naughty again?"

They were young, and Shen Jia was too shy to face him, so she fled.

Later, rumors spread throughout the school that the two of them were dating. Chi Wang struck a deal with her. "Do me a favor and help fend off all these admirers."

For months, Chi Wang helped her solve problems, taught her how to turn people down and how to fight back...

Then one day, the boy pushed his pen aside and said coolly, dismissively, "I'm bored."

A few days after Shen Jia transferred schools, word reached Chi Wang that she was getting close to another boy.

At the time, Chi Wang was painting in the art studio. He heard the news and kept painting without a change in expression.

But one nosy classmate snuck a peek. On the sheet of paper, where a large splash of ink had spread by accident, there had once been a girl perched on a high wall, looking out. She looked a little like the person he had grown bored of.
