Her father finds her the best dentist at the finest hospital, but during the consultation, she falls for the beautiful intern Lin Xingzhi at first sight.
She wears her father down until they agree to let Lin Xingzhi perform her dental implant.
From then on, Gu Qiuqiu visits for follow-up appointments every few days, hovering around Dr. Lin.
Everyone at Ruihang knows that the Gu family’s heiress has set her sights on Lin Xingzhi, and that he’s about to rise to the top.
Lin Xingzhi himself is unmoved.
Then, one day, people notice that the Gu family’s heiress hasn’t visited Dr. Lin in two whole weeks, and they gossip about it in private.
Lin Xingzhi thinks she’s finally found a new target in the colorful world of college and lost interest in him.
Until a few days later, when he hears something from his close friend, a police officer.
There have been serious problems inside the Gu family company, and they’ve sold off all their assets. Gu Qiuqiu’s father has been taken into custody, and her mother has had a mental breakdown.
His friend also says that the Gu family has a poor, unfortunate daughter. When the police question her, all she does is cry.
Perhaps unable to bear one blow after another, the Gu family’s heiress loses her voice after the final questioning.
His friend sighs.
The sixteenth day after her father is detained is rainy.
It is also Gu Qiuqiu’s eighteenth birthday.
She sits alone outside the detention center, letting the rain soak her, sitting there from day until late at night.
Through the mingling rain and tears, a man walks toward her.
He says nothing, only sits beside her and holds an umbrella over her in the stormy night.
