You'd Better Not Like Me

[Naive, kindhearted ray of sunshine x ruthless schemer]

While out, Yi Shu came across a beautiful young man dressed in ancient-style robes and wearing a jade crown.

The young man had never heard of the notorious Yi Shu. He asked in confusion, "Who are you? Why do you not bow when you see this prince?"

Noble and pure, naive and ignorant, he did not even know that Yi Shu was the only person in the entire empire who could be called a king.

Yi Shu took the pampered stranger of unknown origin back to her castle.

Li Zhongyue thought he had met a kind person who would take him back to the general's residence. He happily ate and drank his fill at Yi Shu's castle, staying as her guest for a full half month.

Then, the first time he went out of Yi Shu's sight, he received three hastily scrawled notes saying "Run!" from four different people in just five minutes.

The fourth person told him, "Yi Shu is a vampire. You'll become her thirty-seventh blood slave."

Li Zhongyue was curious. "What happened to the first thirty-six?"

"They all died."

*

Yi Shu, who had lived for seven hundred years, wanted to end her immortality. But a vampire can only be killed by someone they love.

Thirty-six attempts, thirty-six failures.

Li Zhongyue was the thirty-seventh blade she raised.

Please note:

1. Ancient times meets the future, with vampires. Don't expect much logic, research, or deep meaning.

2. The first thirty-six were all assassins sent by other factions, not male concubines.

3. This is part of a series of short, sweet stories. This time I'll definitely finish it in under 100,000 words!!!
