When We Eloped, He Said We Had to Bring the Dog

1.

Gu Gu first met Qiu Jiade beside the crosswalk at a traffic light.

Her bag had been scraped by a car's side mirror. She was just about to say it was fine when

a handsome, refined face leaned out. "I'm sorry. Are you all right?"

Gu Gu's eyes lit up. She glanced at the car's badge. "We may need to talk. My bag costs more than your car."

2.

"The Qiu and Gu families must never intermarry. That is the family rule."

In the Qiu ancestral hall, Qiu Jiade knelt before the ancestral tablets, having just taken a beating with a cane.

When night fell and all was quiet, Gu Gu climbed over the wall into the courtyard. "Qiu Jiade, why don't we elope?"

Qiu Jiade rubbed his knees, deep in thought.

Gu Gu: "What? Don't you dare?"

Qiu Jiade: "Then I have to bring the dog."

3.

Qiu Jiade swore in the Qiu ancestral hall that he was keeping a lover in a golden house and had a child. The story eventually made its way to Gu Gu.

Having not seen Qiu Jiade in a long time, Gu Gu decided to set him free. As soon as they met, she said, "I'm tired of this. It's no fun. Let's break up."

Qiu Jiade pointed at the rain outside the window and said, "Then hurry up and get into bed. I need to get you pregnant before the lightning strikes me, so I can break that oath."
