Her Best Years

Five years ago, Huang Yingqing asked him, "Have you ever thought about being with me and having a child?"

He answered, "No."

With his phone in her hand, Huang Yingqing glanced at the answer on the screen.

The next second, a wave surged up and swept that relationship away along with the phone.

Back then, his surname wasn't Zhao. His name was Chen Song.

One day, five years later, an unexpected guest came to Qingfeng Teahouse, run by Huang Yingqing.

Zhao Chensong: "Qingqing, I lost my job. Take me in?"

Huang Yingqing: "I don't keep freeloaders."

Zhao Chensong: "But you have a job ad posted outside."

Huang Yingqing: "A cute pet chef."

Just then, a little boy ran over and asked, "Mom, is my chef here yet?"

Huang Yingqing: "What are you getting at?"

Zhao Chensong: "Turn around and look at me. I'm that tree covered in flowers."

Huang Yingqing thought the line sounded familiar. Then one day, she opened her Q status from five years ago: "I want a tree covered in flowers, standing steadfast through the wind and watching over the moon, waiting for me to turn around."

That night, Huang Yingqing held her son and read him a story. Her son asked, "What is a dad? Why do all the other kids have one, but I don't?"

Huang Yingqing: "Your dad is a tree covered in flowers."
