Awakening to the Truth

This is only Lin Xingzhi's confession.

The first half of my life was utterly ordinary. The second half, however, was like a play, full of twists and turns that were both hilarious and painful.

It was all because of one person.

I think that without her, I could have lived an ordinary, uneventful life and still been perfectly content.

I never understood love, nor did I understand hate.

I know all that.

But I never imagined that understanding would come at such a high price.

She taught me the most passionate love and hatred, and I trembled from head to toe.

I once said she was a bold stroke of color. It turned out to be true.

I used to wonder what might have been, but I was always so rational it was embarrassing.

I know there are no what-ifs between us, only the past and the present. There is no future, either.

But I have no regrets. I have never regretted killing her.

Her love was always too twisted, too extreme. It had to sweep up so many people, so many innocents... and I thought that was wrong.

So I truly have no regrets.

Before she died, I tried everything I could to escape her. After her death, I still couldn't escape the nightmares about her.

P.S.

Please note:

1. This story is told in the male protagonist's first-person perspective.

2. This is just a practice piece by a lousy author, so the plot is pretty weak and slow-paced. And by this point, I feel like some things have started getting out of hand... Please bear with me, QAQ.

3. I still hope some lovely readers will leave me a comment, ORL. It's really hard to stay motivated when writing alone. I also want to improve my writing, so I hope someone will take a look at it... Criticism is fine, too. Honestly, I have plenty of complaints myself.

Theme: Love yourself well.
