An Unexpected Interstellar Journey

Nian Li couldn’t understand how she’d gone to sleep and then woken up on a noisy spaceship in motion. On her left sat Xiaoju, the stray cat she’d been feeding for a year. On her right was a girl with wings on her back who looked like she might be an elf. This spaceship was famous across the galaxy for having the longest route and stopping at the most planets. It was a public-service vessel, nicknamed the interstellar version of the green train for traveling around the world, for species with tough backsides. Of course, Xiaoju was the one who told her all this. By the time Nian Li asked if she could go home, the spaceship had already reached its next stop after Earth: Meow Star. Nian Li: “...” There really is a Meow Star? Wait, the important thing is, how do I get home? The longest route wasn’t a joke. By the time this spaceship finished its galactic circuit and returned to its starting point, who knew how many years would have passed? Earth might not even still be there. Just as Nian Li was about to break down, she discovered that her phone still worked and had internet access. And everyone was watching her livestream... A livestream? On an ordinary Monday morning, a new app for watching livestreams appeared on the smart devices of everyone on Blue Star. After that, the livestream showed Nian Li, a Huaxia citizen from Blue Star; a talking little cat and Meow Star; an alien warrior species resembling elves; the central star system of the Federation Empire in chaos; and beautiful, remote planets inhabited by all kinds of different species... But that was all yet to come. For now, knowing that so many people were watching her livestream, Nian Li, who didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of everyone, finally had the energy to face this sudden interstellar journey. All right, first things first: how was she going to sneak into Meow Star, where other species weren’t allowed? Theme: Study hard and make progress every day.
