After the story goes VIP, the top will be put through exactly the same torment he inflicted on the bottom.
At first, the top treats the bottom like a pet, and their relationship is painfully unequal. Pregnancy is a psychological trauma the bottom can't recover from. If you don't think the top needs to be tormented, this isn't for you. It's also not recommended for readers who strongly identify with one character, or those who think someone without royal blood isn't worthy of being emperor, or those who don't think the bottom should be driven mad after thinking he's escaped, finding out he's pregnant and can't abort, and then being found by the top.
Pregnancy, both are each other's first love, no unrequited love for someone else.
The top and bottom are unequal at first, and this is a groveling romance. Later, their positions will be completely reversed. The bottom's mental health deteriorates after being distressed during pregnancy, and he'll go mad when the top is tormented later.
Neither the top nor the bottom is a perfect character. They have plenty of flaws, and their personalities change under the influence of their circumstances and experiences. They won't stay the same throughout.
In the ending, the bottom doesn't forgive the top for killing the supporting male character. But unable to let go, he still chooses to remain entangled with him for the rest of their lives. The planned ending is that even though they end up together, the regret never goes away.

Blurb:
Ten years ago, Duan Nanfeng was brought back to Prince Regent Qi Zhao's estate. Qi Zhao raised him himself until he was sixteen, and he became the most trusted shadow guard at Qi Zhao's side.
Duan Nanfeng thought they were only master and servant. But later, Qi Zhao drew him into his arms, kissed his brow and eyes, and invited him to share his bed.
Duan Nanfeng thought he was special.
Then one day, he had a dream and realized he was nothing but a stand-in in an old-fashioned, melodramatic novel.
He bore some resemblance to Qi Zhao's beloved, which was the real reason Qi Zhao had been tender with him.
In the book, Duan Nanfeng spent three years as Qi Zhao's stand-in, only for Qi Zhao to personally push him away in the end.
Qi Zhao abandoned him and chose the person he loved.
Duan Nanfeng woke up terrified and confused. After Qi Zhao got drunk and mistook him for someone else, he became even more certain the dream was real. He packed his belongings that very night and fled far away.
Thinking he could leave Qi Zhao behind for good, he finally settled down, only to discover that he was sleepy, nauseous, and had lost his appetite...
He thought he was sick, but the doctor he called in looked at him in horror.
"Young master, y-you're pregnant!"
Ten years ago, Qi Zhao thought he'd only picked up a weapon. It wasn't until the boy turned sixteen that he realized he'd brought home a beautiful young man.
The beautiful young man was obedient. If Qi Zhao told him to undo his sash, he did. If Qi Zhao told him to kneel at his feet, he knelt. No matter how unreasonable the demand, he never uttered a word of complaint.
Qi Zhao adored this beautiful young man, so cruel to everyone else and so obedient to him.
But one day, the beautiful young man stopped obeying him. He not only dared to push Qi Zhao away, but also dared to run from him.
Only after he was gone did Qi Zhao realize he couldn't bear to see him leave. He loved Duan Nanfeng dearly.
So he practically turned the entire Great Qi upside down just to find him.
He thought, once he found him, he'd give him a good "punishment."
But when Qi Zhao finally found Duan Nanfeng, he saw his swollen belly and resentful eyes, and his heart melted.
He gently brought Duan Nanfeng back, sincerely begged him for forgiveness, and held him around the waist as he promised to stay by his side for the rest of their lives.
