I Changed My Fate by Farming

Zhao An, born in the age of spiritual qi revival, transmigrates into an old tragic romance novel called Tears of the Enchantress. He becomes the female lead's younger brother, a cannon-fodder character used by the tyrant to threaten her, who dies tragically during the romance between the emperor and his consort. He literally starves to death.

Fortunately, he still has a little wood-type special ability, so he can go into the mountains to gather wild vegetables. He finds strawberries and sells them to make enough to eat, finds rare medicinal herbs and makes a small fortune, and eventually finds a drunk man.

Hu Sheng opens his gray-blue eyes. "I'm the boss of Daqing Stronghold. If you don't leave, I'll take you up the mountain and make you my stronghold's wife."

Looking at the handsome mixed-race face of the stronghold boss, Zhao An thinks being his wife sounds great. Surely the whole point of transmigrating was to find a partner. He helps the boss to his feet and struggles to find Daqing Stronghold. When he sees the stronghold is full of the old, the weak, the sick, and the disabled, he sighs deeply and begins a farming enterprise. He improves seeds, makes fertilizer, and upgrades farm tools, working so hard he loses track of time.

In the blink of an eye, it's three years after the original novel's ending. The death-seeking male and female leads have indeed gotten themselves killed, and they've also left a country in ruins. Fortunately, Zhao An has grain and guns, so he isn't worried about defeating the ambitious warlords fighting for control.

In the end, Hu Sheng, the former mountain king now known as a god of war, points to the throne in the golden hall and asks, "Do you want to be emperor?"

Zhao An is tempted, but when he remembers that he was fated to starve to death because an emperor wanted to discipline his consort, he resolutely shakes his head. "We both come from poor backgrounds. Let's build a republic instead."

Synopsis: Zhao Xingyin is reborn in 2022, ten years after a decade of chaos, at the very start of the spiritual qi revival. At the time, he's a graduate student in archaeology, following his advisor into a tomb. Buried there is a general from a thousand years ago, who will become the Ironclad Ghost King, protector of Shangzhou City for the next ten years.

Zhao Xingyin secretly opens the tomb's dragon gate. He doesn't want the Ghost King to work so hard protecting those people, only to be suspected and schemed against, then die alongside a blood-hunting demonic cultivator in battle.

Xiao Rushan, whose thousand-year slumber has been disturbed, opens his beautiful red eyes. "Who are you?"

Zhao Xingyin takes the Ghost King out of the tomb. But whenever the Ghost King sees someone hurt, he rushes to help; whenever he sees someone doing evil, he steps in to stop them. He also protects the growing number of people struggling to survive the great upheaval of the spiritual qi revival.

Zhao Xingyin watches Xiao Rushan's fearless back as he moves forward. In life, he protected the people, and even after death he still watches over them, yet no one protects him. Seeing the schemers and ambitious power-seekers itching to make their move, Zhao Xingyin decides that if they want fame and profit, he'll take them on himself.
