A Beta Wakes Up After His Wife's Engagement

After narrowly escaping death, Zhong Yu logged onto the interstellar network. The first thing she saw was a message saying her wife was engaged to someone else.

The two women in the picture looked perfect together: a sweet omega holding the arm of an alpha with striking features.

Tens of thousands of messages called them a match made in heaven.

For a moment, she didn't even know why she had survived.

Her birth mother died young. The following year, her stepmother entered the family, bringing along a daughter two years younger than her.

She was unruly; her stepsister was well-behaved.

She was stupid; her stepsister was clever.

Her father was promoted, while she was left behind alone on Planet E-24 in District Six.

The stupid girl met Hathaway, got into the Imperial Military Academy, and, as a beta, reached heights many people could never attain...

She thought Hathaway was different.

But after an accident, her Hathaway became someone else's too.

Her sun became someone else's jewel.

A note:

A melodramatic pileup of tropes!

Theme: Learning how to live well doesn't begin with loving someone else. It begins with loving yourself.
