Jiang Wei died of heart failure, but Heaven took pity on him and sent him back to the past.
Unfortunately, Heaven took pity not only on him, but also on the enemies he hated most. The most laughable part was that every one of them had been reborn and wanted to make it up to him.
Jiang Wei was more than happy to play along, putting on the image of his once spirited, confident younger self. No one could guess that he, too, had been reborn.
The person they once cherished and held in the palm of their hands was now cast aside like trash, and they had turned to currying favor with him instead.
And the one they had cast aside, his sworn enemy, had no one to rely on but Jiang Wei. His lofty air of being above the world came crashing down, leaving him covered in dust and dirt.
Scene One:
His enemies: "Xiao Wei, don't let Lou Manxue's looks fool you. He's always using underhanded tricks to gain sympathy. Don't let him deceive you!"
Jiang Wei sneered inwardly, but showed nothing on his face. His expression and tone brimmed with trust in Lou Manxue. "You must have misunderstood Manxue. He's not that kind of person!"
His enemies: "Xiao Wei, you're just too naive. The reason we treated you badly a while back was that he put us up to it behind your back."
Anger filled Jiang Wei's eyes. "Manxue is my friend. Don't ever say things like that again, or I'll be angry!"
Scene Two:
"Manxue, to them, no one is irreplaceable. First it was me, and now it's you. I'm the only one you can rely on now!" Jiang Wei's calloused thumb stroked Lou Manxue's lower lip, a hint of madness flickering in his dark eyes.
"They all want to destroy you. I'm the only one who can protect you, so you have to keep me happy!"
Lou Manxue lowered his eyes, hiding his feelings, and gave in to every one of Jiang Wei's outrageous demands.
