Shanhai Folklore Research Institute

Lin Mian, a poor male college student, takes a part-time job as an assistant at a research institute. The institute offers great benefits and high pay, with a five-figure monthly salary. Student Lin is very satisfied.

But he soon realizes something is off.

First, he discovers that the institute's research subjects not only cause trouble everywhere, but also unleash biological disasters. Then his coworkers keep dying and coming back to life for no apparent reason, which puts him under a lot of stress.

The veteran staff at the Shanhai Folklore Research Institute think the new assistant is fair-skinned, handsome, and good-natured, practically a little angel, until they see him knock a Ming She unconscious with a rock and bash a Suan Yu over the head with a brick...

Good heavens, the assistant is brutal!

Director Wu Ting discreetly looks away, his heart pounding: What do I do? He's, he's so cute!

Domineering director, secretly flirtatious, ancient great demon seme x beautiful assistant, openly vicious, probably human (?) uke

Also featuring the upcoming story, Every Weird Thing Says I'm a Scumbag. Blurb:

After graduating from college, Shen Si gets a job as a night-shift doctor at a psychiatric hospital. His coworkers and patients are all very friendly. They want to snuggle up to Dr. Shen, hug Dr. Shen, and share a dorm room with Dr. Shen.

Because Dr. Shen smells so good!

Shen Si sniffs his arm and doesn't think it smells good at all.

Dr. Shen works from eight in the evening until four in the morning. The hospital provides social insurance and housing fund contributions, free food and accommodation, and a monthly salary of over ten thousand. He can even earn a performance bonus when patients recover and are discharged.

Patient number one is a little boy with a fetish for objects. His symptoms are the mildest.

The child has little life experience and has only encountered a limited number of things. It's only natural for him to be attached to his favorite toy.

That's exactly what it is. When Dr. Shen washes the rabbit plushie the boy never lets go of and leaves it in the sun all day, patient number one is cured without further treatment. Shen Si never sees him again.

Patient number two has pica, and gives Shen Si the biggest headache. He doesn't just chew his own fingers, he tries to chew Shen Si's too. He's a high-risk patient with a tendency toward aggression.

With no other choice, Dr. Shen orders a box of teething sticks online for him.

A week later, patient number two is horrified to find that his front teeth are half their original length, and air whistles through his speech.

Patient number three is a hopeless romantic, and the only patient who doesn't think Shen Si smells good.

A handsome young heir from a wealthy family, he's in poor health and often tells Shen Si to be careful. When Shen Si meets patient number three's concerned gaze, his heart goes thump-thump.

Oh no, being a hopeless romantic isn't just hard to cure, it's contagious!

A night-shift doctor named Shen Si starts working at the Benevolence Mental (Ghost) Illness (Thing) Hospital (Concentration) Camp (Camp). Dr. Shen is fair-skinned, beautiful, and long-legged, and he has a lovely scent that makes the ghosts and monsters drool: So fragrant, I want to eat him...

But a month later...

"You know the new Dr. Shen? I saw him leave little X out in the sun until it dried up and died! Oh my gosh, that scared me to death!"

"Was that Dr. Shen? No, that's Dr. Shen the Tyrant! Someone had spent a hundred years growing their hair, and he snipped it off into a buzz cut. How are they supposed to scare people now? Boohoo, I don't want to live!"

"Shh, stop talking. If he hears you, he'll make you eat a teething stick. Even the nastiest vengeful ghosts can get ground down into little hamsters!"

Shen Si happens to walk by, looking confused: What are you talking about?

All the ghosts: We were saying Dr. Shen is a wonderful doctor!
