Why Am I the Most Hated Person in a Parallel World?

Every night after Su Qing falls asleep, he wakes up in the body of his counterpart in a parallel world. It’s not a big deal, except that he starts out with a basement all to himself, living conditions on par with a sewer rat. Former friends treat him with cold indifference. Everyone despises him, everyone wants him punished, and they avoid him as if he were the plague. Su Qing: Seriously? Come on, man! How did my parallel-world self end up this pathetic? What a downer... He had planned to lie flat and let things fall apart, but his conscience was still intact. When he saw his pollen-allergic younger stepbrother cornered at the door by a suitor with a bouquet, he stepped in to help. When he found his “good buddy,” who was afraid of the dark and thunder, huddled in the stairwell, he brought him a lamp. When he came across his “friend,” who had run away from home and was shivering with cold, he took off his coat and gave them shelter. He even got a sudden whim to help the icy-faced top student, whom every cat disliked, win over... his very first cat. He quietly mended their badly damaged relationships. Just as he finally maxed out everyone’s affection and thought he could get a peaceful night’s sleep, the worlds suddenly merged, and all their memories came rushing back! The people he had helped gathered around him with smiles: “The person who comforted me so tenderly that night... was that you?” “You were the one who gave me the lamp?” “You were the one who gave me your coat, too?” Su Qing took a step back, his back against the wall. “...Is it still too late to go back to the basement?” #After the Worlds Merged, They All Remembered# Message: To find beauty in the world, we need eyes that can see it.
