Transported to Ancient Times to Be the Tyrant’s Cat

Lu Mian is a modern-day corporate drone. After working for forty-eight hours straight, he still has to accompany a friend to the museum to see a special exhibition about an emperor from a certain dynasty. “Zhao Yujin was brutal and cold, killing without blinking. He was arbitrary, tyrannical, and stubborn. During his reign, he executed hundreds of civil officials before his brothers usurped the throne and he met a gruesome end, torn apart by five horses. He was the emperor with the most horrific death in history…” As the tour guide next door passionately gives his talk, Lu Mian unexpectedly drops dead. When he wakes up, he discovers that he has transmigrated to a dynasty called Great Jin. The good news: He's a low-ranking official with a meager salary, but at least he doesn't have to sleep rough. The bad news: At night, he turns into a cat, and his owner is none other than Zhao Yujin, the future emperor of Great Jin who will be torn apart by five horses! Lu Mian: … I'm doomed. - To help with the new emperor's headaches, the chief eunuch specially finds him a cat. The cat is quite unusual. It sleeps all day but becomes lively at night, scampering around the new emperor. His dull, dreary days become more entertaining. When he stays up too late reviewing memorials, it tugs at his clothes and leads him toward the imperial bed, urging him to sleep early; When assassins come in the middle of the night, it wakes him by stepping on him beforehand; When he falls ill, it goes to the Imperial Medical Bureau to fetch a physician; He thinks the little thing is quite intelligent. Besides, the palace can spare a meal for it, so he might as well take good care of it. Until one day, the little thing disappears somewhere and never comes back… The new emperor flies into a rage, searches the entire palace, and punishes a group of attendants! - At the same time, he notices that the new junior official at the Ministry of Justice has a pair of catlike eyes, and looks a lot like the cat he recently took in. The new emperor asks the young official, “What's your name?” Lu Mian's knees tremble. “…” Oh no. Zhao Yujin issued an order to execute several officials yesterday. Am I next? Luckily, the new emperor lets him off. That night, Lu Mian returns to his cat form and hurries back to the palace, carrying a note in his mouth and delivering it to the new emperor. [Lu Mian is a good official. Don't kill him.] The new emperor grabs him by the scruff. “Could this Lu Mian be your master outside the palace?” Theme: Learn to see beyond appearances to the truth beneath.
