Lured into the Empty Chamber

Ye Qishuang was born in the Northern Wilderness. Though she looked gentle and delicate, her nature was far too carefree and forthright. On her first trip back to the capital, she happened to meet Fu Wenlun, the Marquis's heir. His graceful figure and handsome features gave him an almost immortal elegance, unlike any man she had ever seen.

One glance was all it took for her to fall for him. She tried every way she could to please him and flatter him, but only ended up embarrassing herself and making Fu Wenlun dislike her even more.

But just as Ye Qishuang was about to give up, Fu Wenlun came to her home and asked for her hand in marriage.

Ye Qishuang gladly agreed. Even though Fu Wenlun wanted nothing but the imperial edict she held, she married into the Fu family, put away her carefree nature, and awkwardly tried to learn how to be gentle, humble, courteous, virtuous, and kind.

Over the next three years, Ye Qishuang arranged concubines for him and treated his illegitimate son as her own. She thought that if she loved him passionately enough, she could eventually warm Fu Wenlun's heart, which was as cold as ice toward her.

But when Ye Qishuang was eager to tell Fu Wenlun she was pregnant, the manor was decked out in red. Without telling her, he had welcomed his long-time beloved, whom he had kept as a mistress, into the household as his co-wife.

A love that burns like a moth to a flame is doomed from the start. She had bent her pride for Fu Wenlun, only to turn herself into a laughingstock.

Later, Fu Wenlun searched all across Yejing, but when he saw her sharing an intimate moment with another man, he lost his soul.

He said, "Shuang'er, I was wrong. Please don't play these tricks to spite me, all right?"

It was the first time he had called her by such an affectionate name, but he had already lost the right to spend the rest of his life with her.
