The Nun and the Pirate

[This story was completed in May 2026]

"In accordance with the Lord’s will:

I drive the sword of vengeance into you;

I offer you the kiss of salvation."

Pirates raided the convent, and the sisters were all killed. Curled up in the cramped hold, Vanessa secretly swore to avenge her dead sisters.

She was willing to do anything to achieve that goal.

The pirate captain was a woman named Claire, foul-tempered and cruel.

Her cruelty showed in one particular way...

On a long voyage, with loneliness and boredom setting in, the pirate captain was king of the ship.

And a king could have anything she wanted.

Vanessa endured.

Nuns were always good at enduring.

She endured the pirates’ wickedness, their treachery, their blasphemy, their dishonest kisses, and their false love.

But when she drove her sword into Claire, she couldn’t help asking in surprise:

"Why didn’t you dodge?"

"Oh, my dear."

The cruel pirate captain laughed and said:

"Why do you ask?"
