When the Butterfly's Wings Flutter

[Upcoming story. The blurb is provisional and may change slightly during drafting.]

Lu Li is a butterfly.

A butterfly who runs a flower shop.

Lu Li's flowers are always fresh, and her beautiful bouquets reflect the owner's good taste.

One woman is always ordering flowers from Lu Li's shop, every few days, each time sending them to someone different.

Lu Li writes the cards by hand for her, signing the name: Bai Ou.

As time goes by, Lu Li can't help wondering what kind of person this Bai Ou is.

Then one day, Bai Ou orders flowers again. When Lu Li checks the message, she freezes.

"These flowers are for you, Miss Lu."

Lu Li thinks: So she really is a frivolous flirt who falls for everyone she meets.

For demon hunters, the greatest danger of the job isn't actually death.

Ever since she started out, Bai Ou has been taught: don't fall in love with a monster.

At first, Bai Ou scoffed. What was there to love about monsters?

Then she met Lu Li, a little butterfly who ran a flower shop.

She keenly caught the butterfly's scent. She tried to get her hands on her scales, to learn her species and what she looked like, and then she trembled.

This was the one specimen missing from her collection, the page absent from her many butterfly specimens.

Bai Ou thinks: I want to have her. I want to collect her. I want to

She will become my most beautiful specimen.

"Butterflies always long for sweeter nectar,

beating their wings toward man-eating flowers."
