When Mr. Mori Has Hyperthymesia

Mori Ogai was forced to remember everything he had seen, from the moment he was born to the present, whether it was sad, painful, or happy. Every memory was etched into his heart.

The people of his past lived forever in his memories, haunting him without end...

The face of the first person he killed on the battlefield kept appearing in his recollections. It was an ordinary, commonplace face. As life slowly drained away, it twisted in pain and struggle, then settled into an expression of despair.

He remembered it all,

every change in a person's expression as they died.

Eventually, there were more and more faces like that, each with a wider range of expressions.

After all, whether he had taken their lives indirectly or been forced to kill them with his own hands, he knew their deaths were his doing.

But it didn't matter. In his memories, they lived forever, always there.

"Tanaka, you can head home early today, okay?"

The Boss casually called out the name of an inconspicuous subordinate standing guard by the door. The subordinate thanked him nervously. Deep down, he was amazed that the Boss remembered his name. After all, how could someone as ordinary as him be remembered by a person like that? And yet his Boss did remember. Even after merely glancing at a list of his subordinates' information, he could say someone's name without a second thought. Because he remembered.
