Inside a tavern in a town full of heroes:

The black-haired young hero she'd befriended sighed to Lulu Mi. "The two sand mice on the fifth level of the Abyss are so frustrating. They burrow underground, and you can't hit them at all."

Lulu Mi, trying her best to fit in with the heroes, chimed in. "The Thorny Path in the Haunted Castle is way too hard, too. That demon assassin beat me so badly I couldn't fight back."

Outside the tavern:

The black-haired young man dropped his wooden sword and returned to the Haunted Castle. "Tell the demon assassin on the Thorny Path not to use any weapons for the next few days."

Lulu Mi tossed aside her wooden staff and returned to the bottom of the Abyss. "Give the sand mouse sisters some time off, and go catch a few slimes on the surface to fill the fifth level."

Hero Lulu Mi died by accident during the battle against the Demon King. She was then reincarnated in a new world, where she became the Demon King of the Abyss.

Heroes in this world could come back to life, but nobody ever challenged the depths of the Abyss.

With a hero's heart, Lulu Mi put on a secret identity and became a hero again, setting out to challenge other Demon Kings.

But there seemed to be something off about her hero companion.

Lulu Mi and Onilar, adventuring together as heroes, each spotted a powerful monster ahead.

Lulu Mi: "How about we rest here for a while before moving on?"

Onilar: "I was thinking the same thing."

During their break, Lulu Mi made an excuse to go ahead and beat up the dangerous monster, telling it to get out of the way.

As soon as she left, Onilar beat the monster up again and told it to leave at once.

The monster felt so wronged.

Beneath the eighteenth level of the Abyss, Lulu Mi, known as the Abyssal Queen, sighed in despair.

Inside the Haunted Castle, Onilar, the evil spirit Demon King feared by heroes, wore a troubled expression.

Underling: "Your Majesty, are you all right?"

Abyssal Queen and Evil Spirit Demon King: "I think I've fallen for a hero."
