1997, Hong Kong returns to China.

The whole of Xinchang Hutong was celebrating, while Xu Jingqiu lay on her little bed worrying about two things. The first was whether she could get into a top university next year.

The second was...

"Comrade Xu Jingqiu, come on out! I just bought a game console!" Her childhood friend Yin Chen called from beside the wall. His father had made his first fortune in business a few years earlier, so Yin Chen had plenty of money to spend too.

Xu Jingqiu's train of thought was interrupted. She simply got out of bed, pushed open the window, and called, "You're so annoying! I'm busy. I'm not coming!"

But when she opened the window, Yin Chen wasn't the only one at the door.

Her neighbor, the older boy Yu Jingchu, had come back from Peking University for the weekend. He was just parking his bicycle in the alley.

"If you don't want to play games, would you like to come over for a soda?" he asked with a smile, successfully stopping the two little firecrackers from starting a fight.

Xu Jingqiu turned into a proper young lady in a second and fidgeted for a long moment. "Okay."

The Beibingyang soda tasted sweet, but not as sweet as Yu Jingchu's handsome eyes. When he looked down at her, he was the sweetest refreshment of summer.

That was the second thing Xu Jingqiu was worried about.

When would she be able to say, "I like you," to Yu Jingchu?
