How Can a Cannon Fodder NPC Become the White Moonlight?

[The CP is set: Hiro] Coming next: After Binding Myself to the Evil God Chat Group Blurb: As a highly experienced cannon-fodder NPC, Kosui Ren has died more times than he can count. Just as he was waiting for his usual death ending, the world's consciousness glitched, and in the instant before the Grim Reaper arrived, he awakened to his own existence and dodged the executioner's blade. To avoid being deleted from this world by the System, he has to learn how to go from a string of emotionless data into a fully realized supporting character, flesh and blood. He must develop a real heart and stumble through learning how to love with the heart of an ordinary person. [Slow Death] You put down your gun and let him go. You told him not to say anything, not to look at anything, not to turn around, but to return to the world of light and his old life. Then you turned back toward the dead-end alley. You became a traitor to the organization, and watched, fully aware, as you slowly died. [Partners in Crime] After letting the undercover agent go, Kosui Ren shot himself in the leg. The other undercover agent came to visit him, and their eyes met through the glass. They were on opposing sides, yet kept the same secret. They were partners in a relationship hidden from the light. "Bourbon, we're partners in crime now." [No Waiting for the Scales] "Officer, someone like me only takes lives and tramples on other people's worth. Everyone will cheer when I die." "But if you stay alive, you can save more people, pull them out of the mire of despair, and give them a new life." "So you have to live. You absolutely mustn't die before me." [The Nameless Man] "You'll vanish from this world without a trace. Everything about you will be erased. No one will know your name. You'll become a completely different person. Doesn't that scare you?" "...It does. But to me, dying with a life full of meaning is a very happy thing." "Is there anything else you want to say?" "Good night. I wish you happiness, Executive." = Kosui Ren had covered himself in death flags, but this time, his death ending never came. Instead, he got an outpouring of anguished cries from the forum readers. It was only when the System's notification sounded again, after so long, that he realized he now had his own [Supporting Character] profile card. He was no longer cannon fodder. Not only that, Kosui Ren discovered that his character card also had arrows pointing toward him. Kosui Ren: "...?" What is this? The System chirped playfully: [Now that you've finally become a real supporting character, why not treat what comes next like an endless vacation?] [Spend it with the people you cherish, and enjoy the rest of your life.] P.S. For now, there will be one fake death and one real death. [Brief Content Warnings: A somewhat slow-burn romance, with the main story focused on feelings and personal growth. Not a secret-identity story. Genuine angst (though it's a plastic knife); a few brief love-triangle scenes will appear after chapter 70.] [Reader's Guide and Content Warnings] = Added 10/22: CP confirmed as Jingguang~ = A slow burn, with genuine angst (though it's a plastic knife). All feelings, no tricks, focused on sincere devotion and personal growth. = Defecting from the Organization. Few comments and forum posts. The timeline has been heavily altered, with many original elements. = The protagonist is not perfect. = My take on a BL harem story. Many characters have feelings for the protagonist, not necessarily romantic ones. = A self-indulgent amateur fic, with melodrama and plastic-knife angst. Extremely OOC. If this sounds like it might upset you, run. There are countless good stories out there, so don't hurt yourself. = Please don't mention my story under someone else's, and don't mention someone else's story under mine. Let's respect each other. We're all readers: love and peace. = For completed stories, see: As a Background Character, I Want to Pursue Dazai and I Became the Lord of All Hyakki Through Secret Identities Theme: Be brave enough to embrace an ordinary person's heart, to respect others, save them, and love them.
