One-line summary: A fourth-disaster novel about wasteland development in the future.
"Ding! User 12345, your ultimate mission is to make sure everyone here has enough to eat and clothes to wear. Let farmers have land to cultivate, and give those without homes a roof over their heads."
Shu He woke up to find that her soul had transmigrated two hundred years into the future, and that she had gained a Civilization Reconstruction System.
Two hundred years from now, Blue Star had become a wasteland after the chaos of the apocalypse.
The glory of civilization had faded into the past. The few humans left in the world wandered from place to place, without enough food or warm clothes, and constantly under threat of attacks from alien beasts.
Shu He, an excellent poverty-alleviation worker from a country known as the "infrastructure-building powerhouse," felt the passion for construction within her awaken.
Wasn't this just poverty alleviation on a much bigger scale? She knew this kind of work inside out!
Roads, farming, factories, schools: Shu He was full of ambition, determined to turn this place into an ideal nation.
But looking at the old, weak, and young in front of her, she worried: where would she find the labor force?
The all-purpose System came online: "You can summon people with a connection to you from your original time and space. Make them think this is a game and disguise them as players. You won't need to pay them anything, and you won't be responsible for their lives or deaths."
Shu He was stunned. "That kind of deal exists?! You're even more ruthless than the exploitative landlord Zhou!"
A game called "Apocalypse Rebuilding" suddenly launched on Blue Star, claiming to be a fully immersive VR experience that let players experience the apocalypse for real.
It was cursed to high heaven as soon as it came out.
"Full immersion VR? If we had that kind of technology, we'd have moved to the Zenith Star by now."
"It's a scam. Only suckers would play! They'll lure people in, then milk them for money in the game. It's all a trick."
At first, they couldn't even fill all one hundred spots in the closed beta.
But it didn't take long for everyone to change their tune:
"Holy crap! It's really fully immersive VR! This is so realistic!"
"Don't stop me, I'm going to throw money at the game company!"
"Why isn't the open beta live yet?! I'm begging you, launch the open beta now!"
Before dawn, in the dark of night, order crumbled and civilization fell. A band of warriors from another world kindled the faint spark of humanity's survival. And a single spark can start a prairie fire.
