Crossing the Line Yesterday

The thing Luo Siyuan regretted most in her life was chasing after the top student, Bian Xu, in the heat of youth, only to dump him once she'd won him over.

The breakup probably wasn't very amicable, because the usually easygoing Bian Xu blocked her.

One early morning, years after graduation, Luo Siyuan finished working late and went downstairs to hail a cab. By chance, she booked a ride with her first love.

A reunion after years apart: sparks flew at once.

Those sparks sent them straight to the emergency room, one with a concussion, the other with a broken arm.

Luo Siyuan asked irritably, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"

Leaning against the other hospital bed, Bian Xu said, "Since we're clearly meant to meet, how about getting back together?"

Luo Siyuan pointed at her arm in a cast and sneered, "So... this is your proof of sincerity?"

Bian Xu was silent for a moment, then said, "Blame it on my concussion. I was talking nonsense."

A month after their wedding, Luo Siyuan found an old, yellowed photograph while looking through Bian Xu's study.

It seemed to be from a high school sports meet. In it, a pretty girl with a pure profile watched Bian Xu high-jump on one side of the track.

This supposed first love of Bian Xu's looked strangely familiar. Luo Siyuan wondered whether she should confront him and ask for a separation.

The photo fell to the floor, revealing a line written on the back:
