Reborn as a City

Xiao Xiaocheng died and came back to life, and a voice rang out in his head.

System: Ding! Congratulations, Host, you've been bound to the Strongest City Construction and Upgrade System. I'll help you build the grandest and most prosperous mega-city in the world... Huh? Where's the Host? Host? Where are you?

Xiao Xiaocheng, weakly: I'm right here.

The System shrieked: Aaaah! Host, how did you turn into a ruined city?!

Xiao Xiaocheng: I'd like to know that myself.

A strong gust of wind blew down a section of the crumbling wall.

Xiao Xiaocheng: Ah! My hand! No, my foot! No, my phantom limb! No, some part of my body just broke off! It hurts so much! System, help!

System: ...

Due to an operational error by the System, Xiao Xiaocheng, who was supposed to be revived in someone else's body, came back to life as a dilapidated city on the verge of collapse.

To regain his human form, he has to develop and expand the city until it becomes prosperous. The first thing Xiao Xiaocheng needs to do is attract people.

Xiao Xiaocheng looked around. There were thousands of miles of desert, not a single person in sight, not even a bug.

Fortunately, even if there weren't many people, there were still other species.

A thousand-year-old zombie whose tomb had been robbed, a ghost general and his soldiers wandering the desert, a nine-headed ghost chariot whose heads fought every day, a ghost mother with ten unruly kids...

Xiao Xiaocheng trembled. They were all powerful beings who could crush him with a single touch. Was he about to die? Q_Q

Later, the powerful beings gazed lovingly at his ever grander and brighter form: "Xiaocheng is our home. All monsters and demons love him."

When some foolhardy creature tried to seize the city, one of the powerful beings stepped forward with a beaming smile. "I'm the city lord's wife. What did you say you wanted to do?"

The creature was scared to death on the spot.

From then on, the worlds of demons and ghosts all knew that there was a grand, prosperous city at the border of the Three Realms. Living there brought endless benefits. The city lord was sweet and adorable, but the city lord's wife was the powerful being who struck fear into the hearts of monsters and demons. No one dared cause trouble in the city.
