The General and Her Little Darling

The first time she saw the general, she was dressed in red, riding a horse and laughing with carefree confidence. She swung down from the saddle with practiced ease and saved a child who had nearly been run over by a carriage.

She saw that the other girl was just as frightened, yet the smile never left her eyes. She dipped her head slightly, casting a shadow over her as she stood against the light.

Smiling, she reached out to take her hand and said, "Little girl, don't be afraid."

She froze, then placed her hand on the woman's slightly calloused one and smiled shyly.

And just like that, she was no longer afraid.

She had once been a piece of jade in the mountains, cultivated into a spirit. She mischievously ran off to explore a human city, never expecting that a single glance from the general would draw her into the mortal world and cost her a hundred years of cultivation.

Sadly, what stood between them was not the divide between human and demon.

Just then, a neighboring kingdom invaded. The day after their wedding, the general had no choice but to leave for the battlefield.

She handed her a piece of jade and said anxiously, "I heard jade can keep you safe."

The general took it, rubbing it between her fingers, then stepped forward and embraced her new wife.

Wait for me to come back.

Later,

The general charged into the enemy camp and survived a hundred battles, seeming more than mortal.

But the jade had shattered, and her wife was no longer at home.

Please note:

1. Pairing: Luo Tianyi x Yuezheng Ling

2. The story arcs are inspired by several songs the two sing together.

3. I don't want a tragic ending, but the songs don't have happy endings.

4. The story is set around "Jade Beauty Song," along with "Twin Pact," "Yin-Yang Master," "Five Chinese Maidens," and "Baishi Creek" (this one could sort of count as a happy ending).

Theme: When you love someone, you find a reason to live.
