The Secretary Tries to Teach the Boss How to Fall in Love

Lin Xinghe's twenty-eighth birthday was a busy one. In the morning, she was a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding and successfully caught the bouquet. After lunch, she handed in her resignation to her boss, returned to her desk to pack up her things, said goodbye to each of her coworkers, and went back to her quiet, empty home.

That evening, her boss called and asked whether something had happened. If she needed anything, she should tell her, and she would help.

Lin Xinghe thought of that unsmiling woman. At this hour, she had probably just finished a business meeting and inevitably had a drink. A faint scent of wine would linger on her collar. She would narrow her eyes when looking at people, seeming a little dazed, a little adorable.

She told her boss that work was too busy, and she wanted to get married.

Her boss hung up without much of a reaction. Lin Xinghe stared at the phone as it beeped for a long time. After a wry smile, she went back to packing.

The next day, she wheeled her suitcase to the airport. Sitting in the departure lounge, she messaged her friend to say she was fine. She wanted to send a winking sticker, but before she could, a shadow fell over her. She looked up and saw Xu Qingmeng's face.

Xu Qingmeng still looked as calm as ever. The only difference was that her dark circles seemed even worse. Lin Xinghe watched her stare straight ahead, then, in a rare show of awkwardness, tugged at her hand and tried to look composed.

"Come on. Let's get married."

Xu Qingmeng thought that no one but Lin Xinghe could work with her so perfectly. So even if she had to use her looks to tempt her, she had to keep her around.

Later, she discovered they were even more compatible in everyday life.
