[Also known as: After Skipping Work, the God Was Forced to Become a Top-Tier Star]
Blurb:
It's an era where even gods compete over performance targets.
But Shu, a god living in a mountain temple, sticks to his principles: slack off whenever possible and rest once his work quota is met. He refuses to follow the rat race.
His goal: time off.
While sneaking off during a quiet moment, he unexpectedly gets trapped in the body of a washed-up actor and becomes the human Xie Shu.
Now he can't take time off, and even has to keep up his divine duties.
Because he's been forced to carry a string of divine beads. One bead randomly goes missing every month, and he must grant the wish of whoever finds it, or face punishment by five thunderbolts from the heavens.
And so, a peculiar character appears in the entertainment industry.
During variety show filming, everyone else pulls all sorts of stunts to get screen time, while he asks everyone he meets, "Have you found my prayer beads?"
On TV drama sets, supporting actors use their powerful connections to get more scenes.
Xie Shu: "Could you cut some of my scenes? I want to find my prayer beads and rest as soon as possible."
Director: ?
While everyone else fights for roles in highly anticipated IP dramas, he firmly turns down a director who chases him for three whole streets, saying he wants a vacation.
His manager, who feels like he's lost a fortune: Is something wrong with you?
Later, a rumor spreads through the industry: Find Xie Shu's family heirloom prayer beads, and he'll agree to anything. So whenever his beads go missing yet again, word spreads like wildfire and a massive search begins.
Xie Shu wakes up to discover the whole world is looking for his beads: ...
Didn't everyone say people nowadays love workaholics? He's been trying so hard to slack off, so why does his workload keep growing?
·
Xie Shu lost his beads once while coming down the mountain.
The person who found them was a wealthy matron. She grabbed him and said, "It's you! You're the fated person the master said could break my son's deadly calamity!"
"Please marry my son!"
Xie Shu was just about to ask her wish: ?
As Xie Shu wonders how to refuse without offending the person making the wish, the matron says, "Thirty million! Just take my son!"
Xie Shu, who needs money and time off while living as a human: "...Deal."
The matron's son is named Shang Heng, and he's a CEO.
As his deadly calamity approaches, misfortune follows him everywhere. He's plagued by a serious illness and seems on the verge of dying at any moment. Xie Shu, guided by his divine duty to help the world, takes the money and saves the matron's son as a way to earn merit.
Shang Heng is always cold toward him.
"We have to sleep in separate rooms."
"Don't make our relationship public."
"Once this period is over, we'll get divorced immediately."
Xie Shu is relieved.
Later, Shang Heng's deadly calamity passes, and he recovers.
Xie Shu waits for their sham marriage to end, only to discover that Shang Heng is secretly searching for the prayer beads that Xie Shu routinely loses, and has torn up their marriage agreement.
Xie Shu: "...?"
