The Invitation

One afternoon, the sun was blazing overhead.

Jun Yi received a black invitation card decorated with a pattern. It bore a simple message: "If someone offered you a hundred million, would you dare to come?"

The address was printed in tiny letters in the lower-right corner.

Jun Yi scoffed and folded the invitation into a paper airplane, then sent it flying out the window.

The plane traced an arc through the air and landed in the trash can downstairs.

He watched the invitation reach its destined resting place, then turned from the window and went back to sorting his luggage.

Whatever. What did a hundred million have to do with him?

"Pay up, Jun Yi!"

"Today's the deadline. If you don't pay now, the interest doubles."

Suddenly, he felt he had no courage left to keep living. He could no longer see the road behind him, and he couldn't make out his future either.

As he passed the trash can, he suddenly remembered the invitation. If he wasn't afraid of dying, why not take one more gamble for the money?

It was a hundred million!

Even if there was an unseen trap waiting, at least he could see the hundred million. That was enough.
