(Bungo Stray Dogs) Twins

Dazai Ranpo and Dazai Osamu are twins.

Dazai Ranpo covers his right eye, while Dazai Osamu covers his left. They have the same hairstyle and dress alike. Perhaps because they're twins, they both inherited an inability to understand people's hearts. But although Dazai Osamu doesn't understand people's hearts, he can tell at a glance how complicated they are, so he is taciturn. Since he is taciturn, Dazai Ranpo follows suit.

Dazai Osamu has a more concrete grasp of how things are developing now and how they'll develop in the future, but that also means he's less perceptive about the past.

Dazai Ranpo has a clearer understanding of what's happening now and what happened before, but he's comparatively less perceptive about future developments.

Dazai Ranpo's ability, Human Chair, lets him define things. For 48 hours, he can freely set definitions that determine the direction of future developments. The definition can be triggered by touch, but it can also apply to hair that has fallen from the body within the 48-hour period, and the same goes for other things. If he doesn't set a definition, the person will have bad luck for 7 to 14 days after 48 hours of contact. So the two usually shake hands every 24 hours, which renders anything that has fallen off their bodies harmless and prevents accidents. Once a definition has been set, there is no way to change it unless Dazai Osamu touches that person. No matter what they do, everything will lead to the predetermined outcome.

Maybe because there are two of them, Dazai Osamu isn't as much of a fan of suicide. If he is, then the two of them definitely do it together.

Both of them get lost easily, so someone is always accompanying them. Since they're both rather taciturn and can disappear in the blink of an eye, they each wear a little tag with an address and phone number on it.

As they walked, Dazai suddenly said, "We're lost."

Ranpo looked around. Osamu did too. Then the two looked at each other.

Ranpo: "We transmigrated."
