As her parents grew older, Bai Minan decided to go on a matchmaking date at the suggestion of her parents, older brother, and doctor.

Her match was Lin Jinglin, a wealthy young aristocrat famous in the capital.

He was gentle and refined, handsome and dashing.

She had heard every word used to describe a handsome man applied to Young Master Lin.

He was good-looking and talented. Surely he wouldn't fall for someone with a strange illness like her, Bai Minan thought. She might as well just go through the motions.

Who could have guessed that over the next six months, Young Master Lin would personally bring her flowers during the day, thoughtfully deliver congee at night, and take her on weekend outings?

The distance she had kept between them out of fear slowly shrank, until there was almost none left.

He entered her home and little by little immersed her in his love. She didn't resist at all.

After they married, Bai Minan was tidying the bookshelves when she found a diary in a small box. Its pages were filled with the man's elegant, flowing handwriting.

“Rose looked under the weather today. She was probably uncomfortable because of her period. I bought her a heating pad and hot water, and recorded her cycle. I won't make that mistake again.”

“Little Rose wanted congee. I heard from my mother-in-law (we're not together or married yet, but I think my chances are excellent) that she always eats takeout, which isn't healthy. I'll start learning to cook tomorrow. I hope she likes lily bulb and pork rib congee.”

“Rose is sick. I blame myself. Let this be a warning: she's so delicate.”

“...”

“We're married. Big Brother said fire and roses could never coexist, and that the young lady obviously wouldn't like me. Hmph. Little Rose likes me a lot. He's just jealous.”

“To be continued.”
