The Three Thousandth Year of the Human World

In her third millennium hidden among humans, Mu Shiliu had a child of her own.

As an abnormal human who had lived alone for three thousand years, she thought she ought to give her child a normal life. She tried hard to raise her like a normal human, but never expected her daughter to be such a contrarian. At least she hadn't been driven to an early grave yet.

Mother and daughter made it through ten years with no major mishaps.

Mu Shiliu thought she could spend the rest of her life quietly enjoying retirement.

Then, on Mu Xiaoqi's tenth birthday, she saw a leaf sprout from the top of her daughter's head.

Mu Shiliu made up an excuse: "Maybe you ate too many vegetables a few days ago. You should eat more meat for the next few days!"

Mu Xiaoqi was unconvinced. "What kind of person is my dad, anyway?"

Mu Shiliu had memorized the answer long ago. "Your dad was just an ordinary person. He was bitten to death by zombies back then..."

But just a few days later, Mu Xiaoqi, who had supposedly lost her father as a child, brought home a tall man. He had a face exactly like Xiaoqi's, so it was obvious they were father and daughter. Even the leaves on their heads were identical!

Mu Shiliu was horrified. "...Y-you're not dead?"

The divine tree Xunmu was, to put it mildly, incredibly unlucky.

He had been in the human world for less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea when a ball of fire slammed into him. The flame was so overbearing that it took over his true body! Stripped of his great-tree form, Xunmu was forced to become a wandering spirit trapped on Qing Mountain, while that wretched ball of fire simply left without a care!

That woman had a nice figure... but she was truly awful. Xunmu swore that, whether it took a thousand years or ten thousand, he would get his great tree back! Then he would teach that woman a harsh lesson!

But when he saw that woman and the child who looked exactly like him, he suddenly changed his mind.

The woman had taken good care of his great tree, and even learned how to make it "grow new branches"!

Xunmu: "...Should I thank you?"
