Chang'an Returns to Its Homeland

Grumpy x airhead Mu Jiujiu has a childhood friend who's cocky as all get-out and has a mouth that spits nothing but insults. When Mu Jiujiu puts on makeup, Lu Guannan says she looks like Cuihua from the village. When she passes a bridal shop and says the wedding dresses are pretty, he says nobody will buy one for her if she can't find a husband. When she says she wants to play online games and win countless admirers, he says she'll end up getting scammed and counting someone else's money for them. The two are famous in their neighborhood for being at each other's throats. Mu Jiujiu meets a guy in a game whose ID is Chang'an. They hit it off, and she discovers that Chang'an has plenty of admirable qualities. Yesterday, she told Chang'an that her childhood friend had bullied her and she was furious. Today, her childhood friend apologizes. Yesterday, she told Chang'an she wanted a cake from a shop over ten miles from school. Today, her childhood friend has someone deliver the cake she'd been dreaming of. Mu Jiujiu thinks Chang'an is basically a walking wishing well. One day, Mu Jiujiu goes to drop something off for Lu Guannan and happens to catch him typing away at his keyboard. The person in the chat window has her profile picture. Even after his secret is exposed, Lu Guannan's perpetually sour expression doesn't change. He still sounds dismissive. “You must've run into a ghost while playing with a premade team.” Mu Jiujiu: “?” “What could I do? I was worried you'd get scammed in an online relationship, so I had to go fishing for the scammer myself.” “...” Warnings: 1. A short writing exercise. The story ends when they get together.
