There's No Moonlight Tonight

Jiang Rui'en lived a quiet, proper life for twenty years. More than anything, she hated inconveniencing others. She studied, took her exams, and never even took a day off from school. She knew her flaws: she was cowardly, greedy, and had once stood by without saving someone. Before she met Lin Junhao, she was cold and heartless, and cared about no one. Lin Junhao gave her a fairy-tale romance, then a separation that tore her heart to pieces. After Lin Junhao left, she smiled and let him go, acting as though she didn't care about him. Four years after their breakup, they meet again at a business conference. Jiang Rui'en nods expressionlessly in greeting. "Chairman Lin, a pleasure." She won't look at him, or even shake his hand. Jiang Rui'en thought their separation meant they could both fly free beneath the wide-open sky. From then on, he would live in his golden castle, and she would sleep in her little thatched cottage. She thought Lin Junhao had spent the past four years living a full, carefree life, thriving in the business world that had always been prepared for him. But she didn't know that wasn't the case. During those four years apart, she had drifted through life in a daze, using busyness to numb her thoughts. She had no idea how to forget the past and remained trapped in it. Lin Junhao was the same. Friend, classmate, stranger: Lin Junhao no longer dared hope for even these labels. He became Jiang Rui'en's captive, and while he waited in vain for an answer, he never stopped punishing himself. / From campus to the city + second chance romance + winning her back / Happy ending, one-on-one, devoted romance.
