Lin Yan first saw Tang Ya on the school's honor wall.

Lin Yan, who'd scored 22 in math, stared at the words beneath Tang Ya's photo, his eyes wide as saucers.

“A silver medal in the National Mathematical Olympiad?!”

Tang Ya thought Lin Yan had fallen for him at first sight. They had to eat together, walk home together, study together, and sleep together.

The two were practically joined at the hip at school, earning themselves a spot in the school's alumni-wall couples section.

Their ship's popularity kept growing until the posts finally reached the two people involved. Tang Ya's straight-laced worldview was a little shaken, and he couldn't help telling Lin Yan how awkward he felt: “You're a great guy, but I'm really not gay.”

After reading the posts, Lin Yan was just as baffled. “Can someone explain this to me? I study math and suddenly people are spreading rumors that I'm gay.”

After thinking it over, Lin Yan decided to keep his distance from Tang Ya. He even preferred climbing two flights of stairs to ask a teacher about math rather than asking Tang Ya.

A week later, the school's alumni wall announced that the two had broken up.

Tang Ya spent all night refreshing the post about their breakup. The next day, he found Lin Yan and said, “I've thought about it. I could be.”

Lin Yan: “But I'm not!”

Tang Ya slapped a stack of study guides and notes down in front of Lin Yan. “I'll make sure you pass your final math exam. You could be, too.”
