Playing Innocent

Xie Zheng's perspective:

His mother couldn't control her husband, so she took all her resentment out on her son, Xie Zheng, cursing and beating him at every turn. She fawned over her husband with a smile, not daring to utter a single complaint.

For 17 years, his father turned a blind eye to the abuse. As long as his wife didn't bother him, what she did to their son was none of his concern.

On Xie Zheng's seventeenth birthday, his parents divorced. The very next day, they each started new families. In their eyes, their son was a burden, so they threw him out.

Looking at his life, which was little better than a pile of mud, Xie Zheng refused to accept it. He wanted to change things. He didn't want the people who had made his life so miserable to live so comfortably, but he didn't think much of living, either.

Then he met Shen Sui, and from that day on, every day of his life was filled with anticipation.

Shen Sui's perspective:

When he was five, Xie Zheng was trembling with fear, but still gritted his teeth and stood in front of him. Shen Sui knew then that this was the one.

At seventeen and a half, after finally managing to see him again, Shen Sui found that the other boy not only didn't remember him, he was even afraid of him. Even when they could talk like normal, all the other boy wanted was to be his sworn brother.

He had no choice but to come up with a plan.
