The Usurping Tyrant's White Moonlight

The last princess × the usurping empress

When Princess Bailian of Changlian was forced to ride in a bridal sedan and marry the regent general, someone watched her from a corner.

"Your Highness, why put yourself through this?"

Bailian slowly lifted her eyes toward the figure in the shadows. "There is no Your Highness anymore. I am only Bailian, the general's concubine."

The person bowed and saluted, speaking respectfully. "In my heart, Your Highness will always be Your Highness."

Bailian gave a bitter smile and did not answer. The bridal sedan moved slowly forward, and she did not look back.

That night, flames blazed through the princess's residence. When the ashes had settled, a woman's corpse lay inside. The blade at her waist was identified as the Left Lotus Blade that Princess Changlian had once bestowed upon the imperial guard Shen.

In the general's residence, she suffered humiliation. No one ever called her "Your Highness" again.

Five years later, the realm fell into chaos. Cavalry trampled across the land, rebels surrounded the capital, and the city fell. The dynasty changed, and Bailian was captured and taken back to the palace.

She had heard that the new emperor was cruel beyond measure and had killed countless people. The emperor was extremely mysterious and never let the palace attendants approach. By the time she learned the new emperor wanted to see her, she had already prepared to die.

When she entered the new emperor's Zhaoyang Palace, the mask the emperor never removed was slowly taken off before her eyes.

Scissors clattered to the ground. Their eyes met, and she stood rooted to the spot. The imperial guard of old knelt before her and performed the grand salute from years ago.

"I am willing to offer the realm as my betrothal gift, so that Your Highness may shine as brightly as ever. May Your Highness grant me this honor?"
