My Archrival Is Actually My Online Lover

Coming next: Picking Up a Puppy as My Boyfriend, Gu Chengfei's story. Please add it to your want-to-read list!

Xie Yun is a rich second-generation heir and the CEO of Chengli Interactive, one of China's three major gaming companies.

His little-known secret is that he loves playing the MMORPG Demonfall, made by Hongyi Games, his company's sworn rival.

Everyone knows Xie Yun's feud with Hongyi Games began when its president, Yu Wanshi, made snide insinuations that Chengli had plagiarized. For the past five years, whenever either company released a new game, it was like a challenge to the other. The gaming industry's cutthroat competition was all because the two CEOs kept trying to outdo each other.

Xie Yun hates Yu Wanshi. He hates how devastatingly handsome he is, how much more composed and reserved he seems, his taste, and the way he opposes Xie Yun at every turn.

But he doesn't hate the games Yu makes. To be fair, he's been playing Demonfall for ten years, and nobody even had to invite him.

In public, the two are sworn enemies. In secret, Xie Yun secretly grinds away at his rival's game, even spending money on it. He's one of the server's biggest spenders.

One day, with some rare free time on his hands, he logs in to try out the new expansion and runs into a returning player with a petite girl avatar in a dungeon.

Based on Xie Yun's experience, this has to be a max-level player hiding behind a cute female character.

Xie Yun: What version did you start playing in, bro?

The other player: I haven't played in over two years.

Xie Yun: See this whole set of orange gear I'm wearing? Call me Master and I'll carry you.

The other player: Master dearest.

Xie Yun is overjoyed and immediately gets them a full set of orange beginner gear.

When he meets Yu Wanshi again to discuss a partnership, Xie Yun is beaming.

Yu Wanshi: You're in love, President Xie?

Xie Yun: What's it to you?

Yu Wanshi smiles. Oh? Why wouldn't it be my business, Master dearest?
