The Legend of Binhai is the second volume in Li Lan's Binhai Trilogy. It is complete, with 22 chapters. The book has three volumes: The Love Legend of Binhai, The Former Residents of Hainan Village in Binhai, and Underground Flames in Binhai. The work praises pure love and sympathizes with the tragic romantic experiences of folk performers in the old days; it reveals the oppression suffered by the people of Hainan Village in Binhai under the Japanese puppet regime; and it celebrates the national liberation struggle waged by the underground party in Binhai, led by the Anti-Traitor Detachment and the Red Communications Detachment.
