The Courtyard Beauty's Dating Life [The 1970s]

Roguishly handsome pilot x gorgeous woman who just wants to lie flat. The Pretty Little Star of the Family Compound [The 1980s] is now being serialized.

After she transmigrates into a book, Zhou Li wastes no time leaving the countryside to stay with her older brother, who lives in an Air Force compound. She also takes a temporary job as a dancer with the art troupe.

It's 1976, and she plans to lie flat for a year, then take the university entrance exam once it resumes.

The aunties in the compound keep lining up to introduce her to potential partners, but she turns them all down, and soon the rumors are flying.

One day, a neighbor auntie takes her fair hand and says, "Good girl, you're so lovely. Let me introduce you to someone."

This time, Zhou Li leaves the man waiting outside the cinema.

The man left waiting thinks, Hah, he looks even less willing than I am.

-

Jin Yucheng is handsome and long-legged, a promising talent being groomed by the Air Force base and about to be promoted.

The trouble is, he only wants to fly planes, not manage people. His superiors send him to study at the compound's administrative office, and his parents order him to settle down and get serious. Prospective partners are lined up one after another, but he sets his sights on the woman who left him waiting.

After a dance performance by the art troupe, Jin Yucheng finds Zhou Li. "Want to date? We can pretend to date, if you like."

Zhou Li: ?

The next day, when asked about it, Jin Yucheng smiles faintly. "I have a girlfriend. Her name is Zhou Li."

-

The two handsome and beautiful "dating" partners start spreading sweetness all around the compound.

As they keep it up, Jin Yucheng asks, "Really don't want to give it a try?"

"Try what?"

"Kissing."

That night, Zhou Li loses her first kiss, and Jin Yucheng gets beaten up.

When the university entrance exam is reinstated, Zhou Li waves at him. "Goodbye to you!"

Jin Yucheng: "..."

Notes:

1. The story spans the 1970s through the 1990s.

2. There's a seven-year age gap, and no villainous female rival.

3. There's plenty of family life and romantic push-and-pull, as well as a career storyline.

Theme: No matter the era, stay resolute.
