My Son Came from the 1970s to Find Me

In 1976, seventeen-year-old Wen Ruotang was on her way home when she ran into a scruffy teenage boy who immediately called her, "Mom."

Wen Ruotang's jaw nearly hit the floor. "Who are you?"

"Mom, I came here from 1999. You died unexpectedly, and I missed you so much. Waaaah..."

With no other choice, Wen Ruotang took the filthy boy home to her family's cramped little lane house, already crowded with relatives. A few days later, she realized they could never afford to feed a growing boy who could eat two days' worth of her rations in one meal.

She could only try to persuade him. "Son, how about you go find your dad?"

"By the way, who's your dad?"

"Pei Jinyue, but he's still serving as a battalion commander on the frontier right now."

-

After struggling to feed her son for a few more days, the house descended into chaos, and they ran out of food. Just when she was at her wit's end, Wen Ruotang met Pei Jinyue, a stern man who had returned to the capital to visit his family.

The aloof man didn't return to the frontier. Instead, he stayed in the capital and took a new job. As soon as Wen Ruotang turned eighteen, he came to ask for her hand in marriage, even promising that she could bring her "son" along.

But wait, Wen Ruotang was confused. "Didn't you say we wouldn't meet until the 1980s? How did it happen so much earlier?"

Her son munched on the biscuits his dad had brought. "Who cares if it's sooner or later? Isn't it great that someone can provide for the two of us?"

Wen Ruotang: "So I sold myself to your dad just to keep you fed?"

-

But entering the Pei family was no easy matter. Her mother-in-law was strict, her sister-in-law was a freeloader, her eldest sister-in-law looked down on her, and a cousin was secretly in love with Pei Jinyue.

And the man she married was kind of a jerk.

Pei Jinyue: "Mm, I am."

He worked hard all his life and became a powerful, high-ranking figure in the capital. But he also made enemies, until one day his wife died in a car crash orchestrated by a villain...

One morning, Pei Jinyue woke up reborn in 1976.

The man vowed to protect his wife this time. He just never expected their son to come along, too.
